Stand-alone Gigabit Ethernet Media and Rate Converter
SGFEB Series
The SGFEB Series of media converters allows you to connect different types of networking equipment together. It converts the copper cable that is commonly used in Ethernet networks to a fiber optic cable, which is used in faster networks. This allows you to integrate fiber optic cabling into your existing copper network. It works at a higher level of networking, known as Layer 2, which means that it not only converts the type of cable, it also allows older devices that work at a slower speed to connect to the newer and faster fiber optic devices.
Description
Stand-alone Gigabit Ethernet Media and Rate Converter
10/100/1000Base-T to 1000Base-SX/LX
SGFEB Series
The SGFEB Series of media converters connects different types of networking equipment together, specifically it connects 10/100/1000Base-T ports to 1000Base-SX/LX ports, this makes it possible to use fiber optic cabling in environments that use copper cabling. It operates on the second layer of networking, known as Layer 2, which is the data link layer. This converter not only changes copper to fiber but also allows connecting legacy devices that use 10/100 copper to 1000Base-SX/LX fiber.
