Dualcomm’s ETAP-2206 is a gigabit network tap with dual links and two monitor ports. Each of the two monitor ports generates a copy of the aggregated full-duplex traffic of two gigabit Ethernet links. With a single monitor port, it can monitor both a GbE copper link and a GbE fibre link.

One unique feature of Dualcomm’s ETAP-2206 Gigabit Network Tap is that any of the two monitor ports can be used as stacking ports, allowing multiple ETAP-2206 units to be interconnected to monitor more than two network links with any of the available monitor ports.

ETAP-2206 has two RJ45 ports for copper inline link interfaces and two SFP ports for fibre inline link interfaces.

Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) is supported by the pair of RJ45 ports, which can pass PoE inline power between two RJ45 inline ports. As a result, a connected PoE-powered device (for example, a PoE IP phone) can continue to receive inline power from its PoE capable link partner, such as a PoE switch.

The two SFP ports of the fibre inline link interface use the standard small form-factor pluggable (SFP) modules. The ETAP-2206 does not come with SFP modules. ETAP-2206 can also be used as a network tap to monitor two gigabit Ethernet links using copper SFP modules.

Dualcomm’s ETAP-2206 Gigabit Network Tap can be easily powered by USB power from a USB host device, such as a computer.
